I was one Dan’s 1,000 students who I thanked from the beamah for his preparation for my bar mitzvah in December 2009. Dan made sure to help me out with my readings. He was great teacher.

As my son Morris was growing up Dan was part of our family. He was at my house for many Shabbats as well as holidays. He will be missed by all of us .

I loved Danny at camp Barney and the way he played the piano. We spent many hours together at camp and cried every time we left each other. There are still songs that make me think only of him. His prescence will be missed. I’m so sad he’s gone. May his memory be a blessing for his family and friends.

I first met Dan when he was my counselor at Camp Barney Meditnz in Cleveland, GA. A friendship ensued and when he was living in Atlanta, our family “adopted” Dan as a member of the Maslia Family. He would be with us for Pesach, Rosh Hashsannah, and occasionally on Shabbat. At one point, Dan and I shared a rental house in Atlanta. As my sons grew to be near Bar Mitzvah age, lessons from “My Tutor Dan” were part of the Bar Mitzvah event. My wife and I were so glad to have gotten to see him this past summer when he was visiting Atlanta, if only for a brief time. Dan will be remembered as a the best of a camp counselor, a teacher and a great friend. The photo I am attaching is from Dan’s days at Camp Barney Meditnz (Dan is on the 4th row from front, 1st on left). May his memory be a comfort to his family and who all who came in contact with him.
